The Root of All Evil? Part I (with English subtitles)

“The Root of All Evil?” is a television documentary, written and presented by Richard Dawkins, in which he argues that the world would be better off without religion.

This is a must-see. Granted, it’ll take an hour of your lives to watch Part I, and Part II another but it’ll be well worth it. Any self respecting atheist should watch to, if only to be warned of the dangers.

Funny enough, most fellow atheists I know happen to be rational, thinking people, professionals like computer scientists, doctors, etc.

I suppose the more training you have in a scientific or technical field, the less faith you have. That’s a good thing as far as I’m concerned because all of us would be better off without religious interference in our lives.

The church, in particular the Christian churches, had their shot at running things and look where that got us and what it continues to do to us today.

And don’t think only the religious are moral people. The most highly moral people are in fact atheists. Imagine that – I think I know why. With religion you can suspend the cognitive process, and let the faith take over.

It constantly surprises me that people will dedicate more time to sports then they will to learning about the world around them. I guess its because they feel small in this world, I don’t feel small. I feel as though I’m a part of this world. Put that in your pipe and smoke it.
