This one isn’t earth shattering. I just realized where my love of the funk comes from. It was definitely my father. I was surfing videos on YouTube and did a search on Sly and the Family Stone.

Well – I remember raiding dads album collection and recording them to tape, like Average White Band, Sly and the Family Stone, Earth Wind & Fire, and some more obscure groups like Pockets.

Granted, old dad is a bit of a crank in his old age. But then maybe its because as I’ve stated previously, when it comes to social issues I’m lots more like my mom.

So I do have things in common with the old man, if only I could get past the religious fundamentalism.
