More on International Blasphemy Day

The Irish Dail passed a new blasphemy law with 25,000 euro fines for well, blasphemy. I thank my stars that my Irish ancestors emigrated to the U.S. well over a century ago.

Because not only am I an atheist (the ultimate blasphemy!) I punk off religious figures all the time.

More images from Family Guy Season 8 Episode 1

This episode should have been titled “Road to Gayville”. It also should be sub-titled “Tip of the hat to string theory”

Let me get this out of the way. The artwork on the title sequence is awesome.

And then that old favorite, PacMan featuring Meg, Chris, Lois and Peter as the ghosts, and Stewie as PacMan:

Now for the good stuff, the gay stuff.

First in the Disney sequence the fairy that zaps them to the next universe is a drag fairy with mustache:

1. Have you used put anything edible on (or in) your partner’s body and then eaten it?

Oh yes. Chocolate syrup. Whipped Cream, all easily edible but very messy.

2. Have you ever had an AIDS test due to reasonable suspicion or hyperactive imagination?

No I haven’t. Even when I was single I was very conscious of playing safe. Did get tested a few times with a negative result.

3. Have you ever fantasized about someone else other than your partner while you were engaged in sex, oral sex, or mutual masturbation?

Maybe during mutual masturbation. But that’s about the extent.

4. Have you ever engaged in sex, oral sex, or mutual masturbation while in a moving car? A car being driven by someone not engaged in the sex, oral sex, or mutual masturbation?

While driving, yes I have. It’s a little dangerous though even if you are wearing a seat belt. You smack into something and say goodbye to junior.

The heaviest its ever gotten when someone else is driving is making out and heavy petting. I’m a little prudish in that respect.

5. Have you ever had sex so many times or for so long that one or both people involved runs dry?

Yes I have. Hell even by myself I once had a several hours marathon, I think I hit 11 and after that it was just shooting blanks but hell it felt good.

Bonus (as in optional): Name 5 things an unplanned (or planned) visitor would find in your bedroom?

The phone. It’s a 1972 vintage Western Electric 2702B in pink. The 2702B is the TouchTone Princess.

They’d also find my game of life device, my RGB mood light, my iPod, and lots of books.

Music: Zager and Evans – In the Year 2525: What will really happen?

I like this song very much. It tries to warn about the dangers of technology.

In the year 2525
If man is still alive
If woman can survive
They may find

In the year 3535
Ain’t gonna need to tell the truth, tell no lies
Everything you think, do, or say
Is in the pill you took today

In the year 4545
Ain’t gonna need your teeth, won’t need your eyes
You won’t find a thing to do
Nobody’s gonna look at you

In the year 5555
Your arms are hanging limp at your sides
Your legs not nothing to do
Some machine is doing that for you

In the year 6565
Ain’t gonna need no husband, won’t need no wife
You’ll pick your son, pick your daughter too
From the bottom of a long glass tube

In the year 7510
If God’s a-comin’ he ought to make it by then
Maybe he’ll look around himself and say
Guess it’s time for the Judgement day

In the year 8510
God’s gonna shake his mighty head
He’ll either say I’m pleased where man has been
Or tear it down and start again

In the year 9595
I’m kinda wondering if man’s gonna be alive
He’s taken everything this old earth can give
And he ain’t put back nothing

Now it’s been 10,000 years
Man has cried a billion tears
For what he never knew
Now man’s reign is through
But through the eternal night
The twinkling of starlight
So very far away
Maybe it’s only yesterday

In the year 2525
If man is still alive
If woman can survive
They may find

In the year 3535
Ain’t gonna need to tell the truth, tell no lies
Everything you think, do or say
Is in the pill you took today ….(fading

They kind of warn about the pharma industry and the genetic manipulation that is going on full scale now. Except their prediction is happening a full 4,556 years early.

But little did they realize but some of the technologies they allude to are going to happen within the next half century.

We are literally staring at the precipice of immortality. Estimates as to when we can download the content of the human brain range from 20 to 40 years. I’m predicting it’ll be closer to 20 years than 40. There have been enormous gains in the realms of computing and medical technology.

The U.S. medical system isn’t broken per se, it just has the wrong focus. We absolutely rock at emergency medicine. You can literally be brought back from the dead. Gunshots wounds unless the subject bleeds out (And even that is going to change rapidly) can pretty much be fixed at this point.

The reason we rock at emergency medicine has to do with our military conquests. It’s unfortunate but battlefield medicine drives the trauma units of today.

Add in robotic surgery. Not only are we looking at the DaVinci series robots, but robots that you swallow. I would imagine this would do well with GI surgery but I wonder, how does it breach say the stomach to get at the liver, kidneys, et al in the thoracic cavity? I guess that is where the DaVinci style robots step in.

And nanotechnology is really going to push the boundaries. What if we could create a substance that’s more effective than human blood? You eliminate the bleed out problem. What if we could create nanobots that do a better job of filtering toxins from the body and generating digestive enzymes than the liver? It’s coming faster than you think.

You do realize that today is the 20th anniversary of the first time man was able to manipulate atoms. It was done by a Fellow at IBM, he pushed 35 xenon atoms to form the IBM logo. That was 20 years ago. Imagine where it is now.

And lets now forget machine intelligence. Estimates as to the time of a true AI range from 20 to 40 years but I think we’re a lot closer to that right now.

It’s Baacckkk! Family Guy Season 8 Begins

Oh my, this time they take on string theory. The episode is watchable at the link and is titled “Road to the Multiverse”.

Funny stuff.

Here are a few frame snaps. First the universe where religion never took hold. Since MacFarlane is a big old atheist it doesn’t surprise me that this would be the first universe the travel towards. I won’t tell you who painted the Sistine Chapel. But this one definitely comes from the Jetsons.

Religion free future

The Japanese themed universe. In this universe the U.S. never dropped the atom bombs on Japan so the Japanese just kept going.

And then the Flinstones universe.

There are some real idiots on Digg

So this popped up: Apparently Senator Lisa Murkowski (AK-Repug) tried to insert an amendment to revoke the ability of the EPA to monitor fixed polluters like business, power plants etc. and make them only responsible for vehicle borne pollution.

So I posted a comment that said:

I want the clean air and water acts enhanced. Every outflow of air or water must be scrubbed before it is to re-enter air and water systems.

And got dugg down a few times so I posted this in response:

Post a comment for more stringent air and water controls and get dugg down. We’ve really got some idiots here on Digg. Enjoy that glass of polluted water. And cry to the gods about your serious respiratory illnesses because the air is so polluted.

I guarantee that one will be dugg up. I’ve found when I get more strident I tend to get a higher digg score.

Healthcare: Bias in polling

Just ran across this Newsmax poll on healthcare. I direct you attention to question number two:

2) Do you believe the Democratic health plan should include 45 million uninsured, including illegal aliens?
A) Yes, should include 45 million.
A1) No, should not.

That last part after the comma makes the question interesting. “Including illegal aliens?”.

If you say yes you support insuring illegal aliens. Answering no says you don’t care about the 45 million U.S. Citizens who don’t have insurance of any kind.

The list of issues I have with this poll goes on. They use language like “Universal Healthcare”. Universal Health Care is a third rail isssue in this country because insurance companies pretty much control the whole game.

So go ahead, take the survey. Have fun!
