A distant memory

So I’m filling up my iPod with some of my favorite tracks and some new ones and I realized, I didn’t have Marvin Gaye’s “I Want You”.

There’s a story behind this. From 1985 to 1987 I was a radio DJ at WDOM 91.3FM. I used to do Saturday nights midnight to whenever. Whenever was usually 2AM but if the music was flowing, I’d be there until 6AM with my co-conspirator Don. Then we’d do Sunday evenings 6PM to 9PM.

Every time I’d sign out I always ended the set with this:

Picture it, I’d be sitting at the console, headphones on, eyes close just soaking it up. It was my way of signing out for 3 years.
