If you head on over and visit Holy Bullies and Headless Monsters you’ll see that a character known as LTP from TRUTH4TIME has been harassing Alvin at HBHM!
LTP has a blog which Alvin hasn’t posted yet. I wish he would so we could educate LTP. Because LTP loves to use Cameronisms, even thought the originator of such things has been widely discredited. But never you mind, religious bigotry knows no bounds. It matters not if the information they’re presenting is patently false, they hope that if they say it often enough it will become truth.
But we won’t let them do it. I’ve challenged NOM’ers several times and it usually results in them blocking me. But I’ve pointed out the mis-truths, lies, fibs, and omissions of the NOM jerks a lot on this blog.
So come on Alvin, let us know who the rest of the TRUTH4TIME’ers are so the rest of us in the blogsphere can have a little fun with them.
I just read that you may be required to give Hulu.com your account number for your cable provider to watch certain shows. What? I note Cox isn’t mentioned but Comcast is mentioned.
And cable companies are hemorrhaging tv customers. I’ve seen where some have lost up to 30% or more of their tv subscriber base. I want to see them lose 50% more if they want to play this fucking game.
Put it this way, cable tv has overcharged us for YEARS. Granted, over the last few it’s been the media companies demanding an ever bigger part of the pie. But you know what, if Hulu starts this crap I won’t be using their service any longer either.
Matter of fact most of what I watch on Hulu is network based programming from Fox, NBC, CBS, and ABC. But if the cable companies think they’re going to extract revenue out of us one more way, they have another thing coming.
Disconnect the cable for TV services. Disconnect it right now. I don’t care if you’re a Cox subscriber, Comcast, Time Warner, or what have you, ditch it now!
Rep. Edith Ajello who I have written about before has sponsored legislation to require police to obtain a warrant before searching a personal electronic device such as cell phones, pda’s, laptops, and GPS units. The bill was approved by the House and approval of the Senate must be obtained.
But RI is an interesting place. Civil liberties are for the most part taken seriously here. Several years back the courts made the correct judgement that DUI checkpoints were unconstitutional.
And now the legislature is acting to secure us further in our persons, places and things! Excellent!
Another pieces of legislation is designed to protect minority voting rights introduced by Rep. Anastasia Williams. Basically you need a minimum of 500 voters in a location to qualify for a polling place.
Now if we could only get rid of the ridiculous Voter ID law.
I had been given a pair of Pantronics 400DSP headphones. Not my favorites as I like cans. The Plantronics let in too much exterior noise.
Well, after two months of use they gave up the ghost. The left channel dropped out. I’m going to bite the bullet, spend the $20 and order the bluetooth module for my computer. That way I can use my Motorola S9’s which are fairly reliable.
So if you are shopping for headphones to work with VoIP I can tell you to avoid the Plantronics crap. And it is crap.
Well, I have been watching the stats on my post about ditching them. And I note that based on the number of hits I’m getting per day, we could if we all told Cox to fuck off on video services, cost them close to $10 Million a year.
So do it! Ditch them! Go with Roku, Amazon Video, Hulu+ and Netflix. It’s cheaper in the long run, less than 1/3rd the cost of Cox.
Lets hit them where it counts – in the pocketbook. And thanks for reading!
I love making home made beef and broccoli. I use the cut of beef that *I* think is best and it turns out a good meal.
Here it is just before the leftovers went into the fridge:
Home made beef and broccoli.
It is REALLY simple to make.
Ingredients:
Qty. 1 of a 1.5lb top loin steak, sliced in half then slice on the bias
6tbsp Soy Sauce
4tbsp Oyster Sauce
1 Can chicken stock
1/2 Red Bell Pepper, chopped into small pieces
1 inch peeled ginger, chopped into small pieces
3 to 6 cloves of garlic chopped into small pieces
4 Qts. Brocolli florets
Marinate beef in 3 tbsp soy sauce. Stash in covered container in the fridge for 30 minutes. This is a good time to make some rice to go with the dish.
You can also chop up your aromatics.
Combine the ginger and garlic and add 1 or 2 tsp of peanut oil.
Reserve the Red Bell Pepper.
Once steak is marinated, heat a pan over high heat and add 2tsp of peanut oil and swirl it around. Now with regard to pans, I use a non-coated but you can use non-stick, just halve the oil. Fry each piece of beef and then put aside. You can put a batch of about 10 to 15 in a 12″ pan at a time.
Once the beef is done, add the peppers to the pan and cook until they start to blacken. Once that happens dump in the ginger/garlic mixture and count 30 seconds. Add 3 to 4 qts. of broccoli florets to the pan and add a little chicken stock.
Cover the pan. Combine 4tbsp Oyster Sauce, 1.5 cups chicken stock, 3 tbsp soy sauce, and two tbsp corn starch. Let the broccoli steam for 3 or 4 minutes.
Add the beef to the mixture and then pour in the combinations of stock, soy sauce, oyster sauce and starch. Cook for a few minutes until sauce thickens. It’s ready to serve.
Now lets cost the meal out:
The steak was $6.66
The ginger was $0.50
The pepper was $0.50
The garlic was $0.25
The stock was $1.39
I don’t count soy and oyster sauce since I always keep those on hand, but if I have to assign a cost:
Soy and Oyster was $0.50
Rice was $0.50
Total $10.30 – this makes approximately 4 servings. So per serving it is $2.58. Not too bad.
So total for dinners thus far over the past week:
$10.30 for two days
$11.28 for three days
So average:
$2.15 per day per person.
I like making big pot meals that last more than a day. It means I don’t have to cook every day.
Did a quick breakdown of web browsers that visit this blog:
IE 33%
Safari 29%
Firefox 19%
Google Chrome 19%
So as you can see, the top browser is Internet Explorer. {Sigh} I feel bad for you folks as IE is just one big security hole just waiting to be exploited. But it is the default browser in Windows so a lot of folks just go with the flow and use it.
Now Safari is interesting. You might think a lot of Apple Macintosh users but it’s not. It’s mostly mobile phones running Android and IOS.
Firefox and Google Chrome both come in at 19% and totals 38% if tallied together. So I’m glad some of my blog visitors are using slightly more secure browsers.
So this morning I saw a post by my aunt that piqued my interest. I’m paraphrasing here but she essentially said “How dare Obama expose a donor to the Republican campaign.”
I pointed out that records of donations, voter rolls etc. are in fact PUBLIC record meaning that ANYONE can obtain the data. So I see nothing wrong with what was done. If you remember history, Presidents from FDR on down have had enemy lists that they shared with various parties. Most recently we saw the outing of a CIA officer under President Bush’s terms, so I don’t find the release of this information by a sitting President to be all that much worth arguing about.
That is, I don’t feel like arguing that point. What I do wish to do is argue about the inherent racism in all the false accusations leveled at President Obama.
One habit I have when people make irritating claims is that I ask for verification, usually in the form of citation but with the caveat that they cannot use Fox News. Fairly simple thing to do, a google search will net your ‘facts’ and I know enough about sites out there that I can tell you who owns the site, and what their motivation might be in that case.
That’s when they start resorting to ad hominem attack against me. They call me a liberal, Obama supporter which I won’t deny it, I’m both. But they try to use it as a weapon.
The fact that they cannot produce ANY credible and verifiable information leads me to a sad fact. It is more likely than not their biggest problem with President Obama is that he’s a black, well, only half black if you want to be technical. But it’s back to that old one drop rule, but if people knew our ancestry, all of us, traces back to Africa.
So the sad fact that racism is alive and well in the United States. It may not be blatant, but it certainly comes out into the light of day when an anti-Obama idiot is trying to make a ‘point’.
One more interesting bit. When confronted with requests for citation and data, the racist pricks will first resort to calling you names. Then they’ll block you on Facebook because the truth is just too uncomfortable for them.
Hopefully I rocked a certain guys world with my persistent demands for, to quote Johnny 5, ‘More data!’ but I suspect I just hurt his little feelings by asking him to support his position. Awww – see that’s proper ad hominem.
So I realized something. I picked up an IQF salmon filet, a few pounds of zucchini, and I had a rice side dish in the cabinet.
The salmon was portioned into six pieces each at 4oz. The zucchini is take as much as you want, same with the rice.
The salmon was seasoned with fresh lemon thyme, fresh tarragon, and a nice fish seasoning that included lemon, paprika, and salt. Then into a 425F oven for 15 minutes.
The zucchini was cubed (Just stand on end, slice off the top and bottom, then cut straight down, turn 90 degrees and do it again. Then chop. Mixed that with a heap (2tbsp) of garlic, salt, pepper, and a little olive oil. Just sauteed it in a pan.
Total cost for all of the above was $11.28 – and IQF Salmon is a good deal. Put it this way, if you were to buy it fresh at the counter at $6.99 a pound a 1.5lb filet will cost you $10.49, so you save $3.50.
So all together the above made six servings. So $11.28 divided by 6 is $1.88 per serving. Not bad when you consider an alternative. Suppose I had opted for steak instead of fish. Good steak is about $5 per 8oz. so six servings would be $30!
I can’t believe it, but the fish is a better deal.
Funny but the message comes across loud and clear. Republicans are in trouble.
I also saw on Joe My God the spending comparisons between camp Romney and President Obama. Almost half the expenditure of the latter has been for online properties. Here is a graph I put together by normalizing some of Romney’s data to fit with what the Obama campaign has spent:
In almost every category President Obama outspends the Romney campaign with the exception of rent. It becomes pretty obvious from the numbers that President Obama is putting his campaign machine back together. Good – I hope he trounced Romney.
