Ok, my first time out as a Democratic Socialist. Meeting was supposed to run from 7:00PM to 8:30PM. It didnt’ get started until sometime around 7:15PM and wrapped up at 9:00PM.
I need to buy them or print off a copy of Roberts Rules for Order.
Second – almost all their efforts be it $15 minimum wage, health care for all, Utility re-regulation, etc. are far too dependent upon Unions which as we all know are a declining entity in the United States.
I’m more for direct action. If you’re in Rhode Island first go the Voter Information Center on the web and find out who your elected representatives are, like city councilor, state representative and state senator.
And in Rhode Island you can contact most at rep-lastname@rilin.state.ri.us for representatives, sen-lastname@rilin.state.ri.us for senators.
There were at least a few people who clearly identified the problem with bills for progressive more socialist bent in Rhode Island – and that’s house Speaker Mattiello. One gentleman recommended we picket Mattiello’s home. I like that one.
The crowd was by and large a younger one. Had maybe a dozen of we older folks but the majority were younger people. I get the idea they got turned off by International Socialist Order – basically the communist party in the U.S.
I didn’t speak up at this one though. Had to get the lay of the land.
