Ok so I’ve written on this and spoken of this many times. In my opinion systemd changes things sure, but not necessarily for the better.

And Linux supplanted System V Unix which I’m also familiar with. In reality it’s an open source operating system like Windows or MAC-OS.

One item I harp on is simple concept. To get the IP address of a Linux server all you needed to do is ifconfig E.g Interface Configuration. On systemd it’s show ip addr

Which annoys the piss out of me. Plus I know one reason is because writing init scripts could be precarious if you didn’t understand. But alas I have to use it regardless.
