Now NOM is pissed at Republicans

Check this one out – apparently they’re still trying to beat the hate drum. What the hell is with the powers at NOM? I’d love to see their current budget as I just bet they’re seeing a drop in contributions. But now they’re getting nervous about the cake war. I think they’re going to lose to be honest. I mean really – as a business owner isn’t your FIRST responsibility to make as much money as you can?

And as always I’ve stripped their links and put donates to pro-gay sites.

TUESDAY, JULY 18, 2017

The entire Republican Party owes their electoral success to people of faith, individuals like us who turned out in droves to oppose the leftist agenda of the Democrats and Hillary Clinton. The Democrats demand complete loyalty to their extreme agenda – same-sex ‘marriage,’ abortion on demand, transgender ideology, virtual elimination of religious liberty, etc. In rejecting the extreme agenda of the left and Democratic leaders, people of faith put their trust in Republicans who said they would deliver on their promises and defend American values.

From Donald J. Trump, to the members of the US Senate, to the members of the House of Representatives, Republican elected officials owe their majority to people of faith, the bedrock base of the Republican Party.

But so far, outside of Neil Gorsuch on the Supreme Court, the Republicans have precious little to show in terms of delivering on their promises.

Worse, late last week, some 23 GOP members of the US House of Representatives opposed an amendment to the defense spending authorization bill to prevent the use of taxpayer funds to pay for sex-change surgeries from transgendered soldiers.

Are these 23 Republicans clueless or, worse, are they traitors to the conservative cause?

First off, the science is clear that there is absolutely no evidence to show that someone can be “trapped in the wrong body.” Those who think they are “transgender” actually suffer from a psychological disorder known as gender dysphoria.

Moreover, why in the world should US taxpayers be given the bill because a gender-confused individual joins the military and then demands a sex-change operation? It’s insane!

And what’s really problematic is that the GOP leadership in the House, including Speaker Paul Ryan and Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy, did absolutely nothing to prevent this travesty and betrayal of trust.

If the Republican leadership in Washington does not get their act together soon and begin delivering on their promises to restore American values like marriage and life, they are going to be in for a rude awakening come the 2018 midterm elections. Why would people of faith turn out to vote for incumbent Republicans who do nothing, or worse, betray us?

NOM intends to hold the Republican majority in the House and the Senate accountable for their actions, and the Trump administration as well. We have a detailed plan to do so, but we need your help to be successful.

Will you stand with us and help us with a financial contribution so we have the resources to hold the GOP accountable and fight for the rights of all marriage supporters?

HERE IS OUR PLAN:

  1. Conduct a strong public education campaign supporting NOM’s legal team as we prepare to file amicus briefs with the US Supreme Court in the Masterpiece Cakeshop case, which holds the potential of achieving a sweeping Court ruling preventing government from targeting people for punishment because they hold fast to the natural, biblical understanding of marriage as one man and one woman…
  2. Hold the Republicans in Congress accountable, including demanding they introduce and move forward with the First Amendment Defense Act to provide protections for people of faith, and demand that GOP members feel the heat when they abandon us to vote for “transgender surgeries” and other policies that violate our values and defy common-sense. (See our petition below.)
  3. Organize tens of thousands of Americans to contact Attorney General Jeff Sessions to demand that the Trump administration move forward with a long-promised Executive Order to protect individuals, pastors, churches and nonprofit groups who believe in traditional marriage from punitive actions against them by the government.
  4. Highlight the utter hate that many on the left have for people who remain firm in their belief that marriage is as God created it – one man and one woman. This includes formally launching our First Freedom Initiative which, among other things, will highlight the animus and dangerous tactics of groups like the Southern Poverty Law Center and the grossly-misnamed Human Rights Campaign.

Combined, these four priorities form the backbone of NOM’s work this summer to protect marriage supporters. But to be successful on any one of these undertakings, let alone our full agenda, we need the strong support of every NOM supporter. Will you be with us?

National Organization for Marriage is begging again

It never stops – I guess old Pumpkin Face Brian Brown doesn’t know what to do if NOM has to close it’s doors. I mean they lost the marriage equality fight. Now they’re going after the transgender community. Enough is enough. Don’t give the bigots at NOM any more money.

I’m sort of surprised that hate still sells. Here’s the letter verbatim:

Anthony: Many people have responded with support for our critically-important Spring Matching Fund Drive, but with just one week to go, we really need your help. Every contribution we receive between now and midnight on May 1st will be matched, dollar for dollar. Unless we hit our goal of raising $100,000 during this time, we’re going to have to make drastic budget cuts. Can you help with an immediate financial contribution?

It’s followed by a bunch of links for donation $15, $25, $50, $100, $250, $500, $1000. I wish they still sent out those little self addressed stamped envelopes, it was always fun taping it a load of bricks and sending it back to them.

And the target seems pretty low to me, only $100,000 by May the 1st. I wonder – is that what Pumpkin Face goes through in a month or every two months? Doesn’t he know, bigotry doesn’t fly anymore. And note in this  missive they never say they’re against the LGBT community, but they are.

And it makes me wonder, what ever became of Maggie “The Loathsome” Gallagher?

The Tears of Brian Brown Part IV

So he’s saying what he always says when a court corrects a legislative or initiative error:

“Pennsylvania voters have long sought, and been denied, the right to vote on the issue of marriage. This ruling adds insult to injury, as it leaves the citizens of Pennsylvania doubly disenfranchised,” said Brian Brown, NOM’s President. “Members of the Pennsylvania legislature have been actively working for years to put this matter to the voters, which makes Judge Jones’ cavalier decision even more brazen and unjust. The ruling unilaterally makes an end-run around the democratic process and places the capricious will of one man above the desires of millions of citizens.”

He’s crying that they couldn’t stir the bigot pot again and try, just try to get the ‘people’ read as the NOM supporters, to respond to bogeyman complaints about the children, the coming storm, etc. There are only so many ways you can beat a dead horse there Brian Brown.

And he insults the PA Legislature – not surprising. I insult my legislature and legislators here in RI all the time. But the way he insults them makes the legislators in PA seem particularly inept.

Up with Steven Kornacki tackles Marriage Equality

Excellent, this is a good breakdown of the issue.

The panel was comprised of our old favorite bigot Brian Brown of the National Organization for Marriage (Every time I write that line I feel like stating the obvious, it’s an oxymoron!), Aisha Moodie-Mills  from the Center for American Progress, Josh Barrow  from Business Insider and  Rachael Bade from Politico.

Toward the end of the first part Brian Brown is going off and Josh Barrow takes issue with what Brown is saying. And then Brown starts getting increasingly more shrill as he goes on. He cannot defend his position any longer and so he’ll resort to umbrage at being labeled as a bigot. The real truth is, he IS a bigot. He just doesn’t want to hear that – it causes a great degree of cognitive dissonance.

You have to watch Brown, the voice register goes up and the eye rolls start. He’s pulling it straight out of his own ass. It comes in at around 16 minutes in the first clip. You get to hear Barrows response in the second bit.

Brian Brown whines about the Judicial Victory in New Mexico

I’ll quote it all here:

“Once again activist judges have thrown out the historic legal understanding of marriage in New Mexico.” — Brian Brown, NOM president —

Washington, D.C. — Reacting to today’s ruling of the New Mexico Supreme Court that declared unconstitutional current state marriage laws limiting marriage to the union of one man and one woman, the National Organization for Marriage (http://www.nationformarriage.org) (NOM) released a statement condemning the ruling and calling for a federal law to prevent further radical attacks on marriage nationwide.

“Today’s opinion by the New Mexico Supreme Court is disappointing but not surprising. These are the same justices that demanded in an earlier ruling that Christians be the ones to compromise and deny their faith, in the case of Elane Photography. Once again, activists judges have thrown out the historic legal understanding of marriage in New Mexico,” stated Brian Brown, NOM president. “This is a continuation of a very dangerous rush towards silencing people of faith who simply believe marriage to be the union of one man and one woman. The National Organization for Marriage will do everything in its power to protect believers of true marriage in New Mexico and around the nation from the fallout of radical judges who deny the truth of marriage.”

Brown said that the decision underscores the need for Congress to pass a federal Marriage Protection Amendment. He said that without such an enactment, activist judges around the nation will continue to act unilaterally to redefine marriage, and Brown warned of threats to religious freedom and other first amendment rights which he said always follows in the wake of such decisions.

A federal Marriage Protection Amendment has been proposed by Congressman Tim Huelskamp of Kansas, and enjoys support from NOM and many other allied organizations.

Note the keywords – ‘activist’ judges, legal understanding, etc. First of all Brown isn’t an attorney and thus has no knowledge of how the law works. The law, believe it or not does sort of value logic. And the arguments to call for a Federal law – well they tried that if you recall and it was recently found unconstitutional.

But the part of his whine that irks me most is the contention that these are ‘radical’ attacks on marriage? Really, expanding the privilege is radical?

And I don’t know if anyone else can spot the idiocy in this quote:
“This is a continuation of a very dangerous rush towards silencing people of faith who simply believe marriage to be the union of one man and one woman. The National Organization for Marriage will do everything in its power to protect believers of true marriage in New Mexico and around the nation from the fallout of radical judges who deny the truth of marriage.”

Funny Brian, it hasn’t silenced you.

Thomas Peters has a broken neck

Yes, NOM bigot Thomas Peters was in a car wreck. Broke his freaking neck. If that’s not cosmic justice I don’t know what is.

I’m posting this here because my comment to that effect got hosed on Joe My God.

But I note that things aren’t going well for the bigots lately. First you have Brian Brown yammering about their wins of yesteryear. You have MORE states and countries with marriage equality and the message of the bigots is falling flat.

A rewind on NOM’s Gathering Storm

Maybe it’s just me had posted this. I’m stealing it in order to add a little snark.

The storm done blown over by now children. You can come out from under the shroud of bigotry you’ve been carrying for so long.

But I already see we’ve heard from both Brian Brown and Maggie Gallagher that this is a dark day for the bigots.

Must suck to be them. From someone in the camp of the love that doth not speak it’s name I can say it’s about time their religious animus gets put down like the rabid dog that it is.

The NOM Bigot Cavalcade is in France

Now I heard earlier that they’d be there. And I’m letting you know, I hate posting links to their site but you really need to see this.

On another site I saw that they had 900 buses and 5 trains. So being mathematically inclined I did a few basic calculations:

Assumptions:
A bus holds 54 people.

A train perhaps 200 people.

So we know they had 5 trains times 200 people or 1,000 people.

Buses 54 times 900 is 48,600. So in total 49,600 people.

Now the population of Paris is 2,200,000 people. 49,600 divided by 2,200,000 is .02 or 2% of the population of Paris. That they had to drag them in via bus and train is the standard NOM operating procedure. I’ve seen them do it here in Rhode Island – they bus them in from MA, CT, etc. But actual opposition is pretty low locally.

The bigots have to go further and further to drag in their supporters. Now I know the rate for a bus to go 400 miles from Providence to Washington D.C. cost us $3,510. So let’s drop that to $2,000 times 900 = $1,800,000!

Where is all that cash coming from, one wonders.

Religious wing-nuttery over marriage equality

So I was reading this post on Holy Bullies and Headless Monsters and this paragraph grabbed my attention:

He went on to maintain that same-sex unions are a “narcissistic parody” of opposite-sex relationships as “homosexual relationships do not represent an authentic intimacy, but rather involve mutual exploitation for the sake of satisfying an unnatural lust” and lead to suicide, alcohol and drug abuse, violence along with other “destructive consequences.” “Homosexuals themselves, who are the greatest victims of the ‘gay lifestyle,’ and are in desperate need of the truth,” he writes.

Let’s break this down, shall we?

“Do not represent authentic intimacy” – the definition:

Of undisputed origin; genuine: “authentic 14th-century furniture”.
Made or done in the traditional or original way: “authentic Italian meals”.

So they’re trying to say because they dispute it our relationships aren’t authentic? Try again! He’s trying to make the wrong-parts argument and failing miserably because we all know better.

…but rather involve mutual exploitation for the sake of satisfying an unnatural lust…

But lust in itself is an immoral thing. Or so says the church. The unnatural part comes from nature being a code word for God. The thing is, in the Bible the prohibitions of a man lying with a man aren’t the word of God per se, but part of the Levitical code of conduct. In other words, written by primitive tribal societies who saw non-reproduction as un-natural.

…lead to suicide, alcohol and drug abuse, violence along with other “destructive consequences.”

Funny, I can only speak from my perspective here. First of all I’ve never contemplated suicide, only drink moderate amounts of alcohol, never abused drugs, and never suffered any violence. Then of course the writer completely gives a pass with “destructive consequences”. This is code speak for “The wages of sin are death.”

This is not to say that alot of gay and bisexual people and even straight people haven’t succumbed to diseases like HIV/AIDS, Herpes, etc. But that’s just it, Matthew Cullinan Hoffman, of the three names doesn’t understand the nature of disease, it’s not so much due to actions per se, but because of bacteria and viruses. Modern science has figured that part out for at least a century now.

And the only reason I’m the ‘greatest victim’ of my ‘gay lifestyle’ is only because religious bigots like Hoffman keep railing on, all up in the Kool Aid, and don’t know the flavor.

The Reaction from the Bigot Cavalade to the four victories

Mostly they’re all complaining how they were out-spent on this one. For a group that slung around enough cash to pay for signature gathering etc., to run ads on radio and television, do massive mailings and things of that nature I find it fit for the goose and the gander.
In essence they cannot spin this. As hard as Brian Brown, Maggie Gallagher et al try they can’t come up with anything else but “it was the money”.  It’s really kind of sad when you think about it. As I posted earlier, I think we’ve hit the tipping point for full equality in matters of marriage. And the bigot cavalcade knows they’ve lost not just the battle but the entire war effort.
And we’re now at what, 1/5th the nation where equality reigns? That kind of parallels Loving v. Virginia when you think hard about it. Back then only a handful of states allowed interracial marriage. And then it rocked toward the U.S.  Supreme Court in the case mentioned in the last sentence.

Right now we have Prop 8 and numerous DOMA challenges awaiting writ of certiorari from the Supreme Court. As I mentioned in a prior post, those justices do not live in a vacuum. They’ve got to see the handwriting on the wall on this one.
