Fuck the RI Division of Taxation

I do mean that. They’ve got a lot of explaining to do. They snatched close to $4,000 in tax refund money from both my state and federal returns. One of them for a tax liability from 2007. Yeah – just before the 7 year limit ran up they do that little SURPRISE thing.

I should go play PowerBall tonight. If I won the first thing I’d do is hire an army of lobbyists to take apart the Rhode Island Division of Taxation. I’m sure I could get some people with money to help me do it.

RI Division of Taxation responds, sort of

So in my mail today and dated October 6th (It is now the 12th, six days later) is a notice saying they snatched my $717 refund to apply against what I owe them.  They also say I have ten days to pay the remainder. Interestingly they also mention you can discharge tax liability in bankruptcy. I have no intention of doing so but it does leave open the actual possibility of legal action on MY part against the STATE. Isn’t this wonderful.

Now here’s something to note. First of all it’s OCTOBER. So I have to ask, what triggered the generation of this form letter?
Seems I had posted this about their offer to give me a break. Note the date on that post – the 1st of October. Now I know from my stats that an ip address belonging to the State of Rhode Island hit that post on the 2nd.

The fact that you have to publicly shame the state before they’ll act is astounding. Of course I’ve learned over time that publicly shaming corporations, governments, etc. on this blog and on Facebook tends to get done what I want done.

But give me a few years to build my empire and I’ll kiss this crooked little state goodbye. I plan to deliver a bon mot to the boys and girls over at the Division of Taxation – perhaps an aircraft circling the State House and Admin building with my ‘fuck you’ message.

But here’s thing – when my empire gets to that size I will have enough money to buy a few politicians. You can see where I’m going here.  Keyron says I’m turning into Romney – but I told him the difference is when I buy politicians it will be  so everyone benefits, not just the 1%!

RI Division of Taxation must be a mess

So a while back I had gotten a notice that I owed $1,700 in tax to the state of Rhode Island. I figured fine, I’ll just let them yank a couple years returns of $700 to $800 and pay the remainder.

Now I filed my 2010 taxes and was owed close to $900. But get this they didn’t apply it against my owed tax. And they didn’t refund it either. Plus, one other tactic the state uses is to snatch your federal return. But I got a full federal return.

Based on this I begin to smell something extremely rotten. Because you see if even the IRS isn’t collecting back tax for RI now, it means RI’s system has some very serious problems.

Today I get a letter in the mail about RI’s Tax Amnesty and how I can pay $438 less and settle the matter.

I have some words for Division of Taxation. Two words to be precise, FUCK YOU. You don’t what you are doing.

My license is valid for four years – and as far as registrations go I don’t own a car. There is also a high probability that I will leave this crooked little state within that four years.

Perhaps I’ll just hire an attorney and sue the state. That would be fun.

But better yet – if I leave the state entirely. I’ll build my little real estate empire here and then I can live ANYWHERE I want. At the 24 unit mark I don’t have to work a full time job anymore. And we start moving into the lower levels of “fuck you” money at approximately twice that. And my goal – when this is all done at a minimum 100 units, maybe 150. I really want to build this.
